Miguel is a co-founder and serves as Head of Private Markets, overseeing TRG’s global emerging markets private equity, private credit, and infrastructure strategies. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and is based in Montevideo. Mr. Gutiérrez has more than 40 years of experience in international financial markets, the majority dedicated to emerging markets.
Prior to TRG, Mr. Gutiérrez spent 21 years at J.P. Morgan, where he held senior positions across Buenos Aires, New York, Madrid, and London, ultimately serving as Head of Global Emerging Markets Sales, Trading, and Research. Earlier in his career, he held roles as Head of Latin America Emerging Markets, Head of European Interest Rate Management, and Treasury Manager in both Madrid and Buenos Aires.
Following his tenure in global finance, Mr. Gutiérrez served as Chairman and CEO of Telefónica de Argentina, Chairman of Grupo Concesionariodel Oeste, and later as Chairman of YPF S.A., Argentina’s largest oil and gas company, after joining its board in 2015. He has also served on numerous boards and advisory boards including in Telefonica, Telefonica Open Futures and Abertis Infraestructuras in Spain, Telesp in Brazil and Arch Capital in Hong Kong.
Mr. Gutiérrez currently serves on the boards of Satellogic (NASDAQ: SATL), CapAsia (Singapore), and Pecom Energía (Argentina). He is a member of the Advisory Boards of Harvard Business School (Latin America), Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, IAE Business School, and Grupo Pérez Companc. His prior civic and industry leadership has included roles with the Argentine Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEADS), the Argentine Public Services Association (ADESPA), the United Nations Global Compact – Argentina Chapter, the Institute for Business Development of Argentina (IDEA), the Center for the Implementation of Public Policies for Equity and Growth (CIPPEC), and the Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LAVCA).
Mr. Gutiérrez holds an Advanced Management Program (AMP)degree from IAE Business School – Universidad Austral.
