Mukesh Soni is a Director and a member of the Asia Private Equity, Credit & Infrastructure investment team. He is based in Mumbai.

Mr. Soni has c. 16 years of experience covering investment, portfolio and mezzanine financing for infrastructure projects, advising clients for raising private equity, serving as a risk underwriter evaluating projects and conducting due diligence for M&A globally. Mr. Soni focuses on managing infrastructure investments across India. He has broad experience across geographies like the US, South East Asia and India and has worked on transactions across industries including healthcare, energy, re-insurance, entertainment, water and highways. Currently, he is a director on the board of four portfolio companies in the highways sector, including Ircon-Soma Tollways, Kishan-Beawer Tollways, Adildabad expressways and Nellore Bypass.

Prior to joining TRG in May 2018, he was a member of the J. P. Morgan Asian Infrastructure & Related Resources Opportunity (AIRRO) team from 2012. From 2010-2012, Mr. Soni worked with SREI Infrastructure Finance (one of the largest Infrastructure NBFC in India), leading mezzanine financing for sectors like power, roads, logistics, SEZ, telecom and conglomerates. He has financed transactions amounting to US$ 750 mm. In 2008, Ernst & Young (the largest infrastructure advisory practice in India) where he was involved in raising private equity of US$ 300 mm. Mr. Soni started with GE’s global leadership program in 2002 and worked on due diligence for GE’s global M&A transactions globally.
Mr. Soni is a chartered accountant, company secretary and received his MBA in Finance from SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. He is a graduate from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He is fluent in Hindi and English and has working knowledge of Bengali.
