Ernest Stern is a Partner Emeritus with the Firm.

Mr. Stern is a former Managing Director at J.P. Morgan and was the Senior Client Relationship Manager for the firm’s initiatives in emerging markets.  Before joining J.P. Morgan, Mr. Stern served at the World Bank for 23 years in various roles, including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Managing Director.  Mr. Stern served as Acting President on numerous occasions.  Prior to the World Bank, Mr. Stern served in overseas USAID missions in Turkey, India, and Pakistan, and was Assistant Administrator for Policy and Program.  Mr. Stern also served as Deputy Executive Secretary and Staff Director of the Commission on International Development and as Senior Staff Member of the White House Council on International Economic Policy.

Mr. Stern is a member of The Group of Thirty and has served on the boards of ShoreCapInternational (a subsidiary of Shore Bank, Chicago), the Common Fund, and Bank Handlowy in Poland.  Mr. Stern is a member of the Institute of International Finance in Washington, D.C. where he serves on the Principles Consultative Group and the Market Monitoring Group.

Mr. Stern has a Doctorate in International Economics from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
